Extended exhibition: "Purvis of Overtown”
Paintings by Miami artist Purvis Young from the collection assembled for the 2006 award-winning documentary film. Rare pieces from the 1970s displaying gritty realism, to work from the 1980s, 1990s and present, show an evolution in style to semi-abstract symbolism, while the subject matter, imagery, and message stay consistent through the decades.
