In this introductory course, students will learn various metalworking techniques used to work with nonferrous metals such as copper,bronze, brass, nickel and sterling silver. Learn how to use hand tools and torches, jewelry-making equipment, soldering and annealing processes, cold-connection joinery,forging and finishing to create fine jewelry and small sculptures.

Experienced students will further develop their metalsmithing skills,taking their designs to the next
level. Technique, functionality and design principles, as well as complex soldering techniques, advanced
use of the flexible shaft machine,forging, patination and tool maintenance are taught in this class.
