Fused Glass - $300 for up to 15 participants, 1.5-2 hoursLearn to cut and layer bits of brightly colored glass. Your layers of glass will be fired at high temperatures in a kiln, and will fuse together to make beautiful suncatchers. Once you hang your special suncatcher, each ray of sun will remind you of the creative process and the artistic prowess within you. Paint the Smile on the Mona Lisa, $250 for up to 15 participants, 1.5-2 hoursCommunication is key in this hilarious workshop that will test both your listening and communication skills. The group will break off into teams, and each member will take turns as a lead painter – blindfolded. Team members will guide their lead painter to complete a painted portrait, testing the strength of their communication skills. Participants rave about the collective experience, identifying each others strengths and positive qualities. Sandblasting – $300 for up to 15 participants, 1.5-2 hoursIn this workshop, we will have a “blast” creating our own frosted designs on drinking glasses. We can have pre-made stickers based on the theme (we´ll have to choose the imagery/logos, etc.), and each student can personalize their glass to take home as a keepsake to remember the event, and the goals of the day. Hands-on participation such as choosing themes and logos make this workshop a favorite. Ceramics - $300 for up to 15 participants , 1.5-2 hoursParticipants will enjoy the stress relieving properties of clay, as they build and sculpt with their hands. We´ll create our own individual tile, as well as work together to create a collaborative piece – stackable “totem” pots, or a group sculpture, in red terracotta clay. We can explore the themes of the day, while working in teams. Stackable totem pots, or group sculptures can create a sense of unity while retaining each person´s individuality. Artistic flair then comes alive as the senses provoke the individuals into creating a "true" piece of art. Projects will not be immediately available to take home. It takes approximately 2-4 weeks for projects to be fired in the kiln. Musical Canvas - $250 for up to 15 participants, 1.5-2 hoursSimilar to the familiar game of musical chairs, we move, as teams, from station to station. However, instead of sitting in chairs, we perform different activities that serve as catalysts to spontaneous and intuitive thinking, through several unconventional means. For example, at one station, we paint with a broom, at another with palette knives, and at another with turkey basters. The point is to be free of detail and technique, even if just for a moment, and fall back into a moment of discovery and innovation. Cameraless Photography - $300 for up to 15 participants, 1.5-2 hoursSeems like an impossibility, right? Not really! Actually, photography itself came before the camera. In this workshop, we´ll make cameraless photographs, called photograms, and learn about the magic that happens when you go back to basics. We will work together to create photographic images, and develop them in the darkroom. We will use objects, words, even ourselves, to create latent images on light sensitive paper. By processing our images in developer, our latent image becomes visible. We then take steps to fix our image, or render it light-safe, so that the image does not turn to black. The whole process is a metaphor for externalizing your ideas, taking a latent image, something that you can´t see, and turning it into a solid, permanent reality. Photos will need to dry after being processed, and will be available 2-3 hours after the workshop. |
