The Goggle Works is an exciting new multifaceted community art center located in downtown Reading, PA. Built in 1871 as the Thomas A. Willson & Co., the facility manufactured eyeglasses and safety goggle equipment until May, 2002. Now, this 5 story, 160,000 sq. ft. arts complex features four galleries, 34 studios for working artists, hot, warm and cold glass studios, ceramics and pottery facilities, a wood shop, photography darkroom facilities, a 130 seat art film theatre, dance and music studios, gift shop and café. The GoggleWorks is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation founded in 2004.

Position: Educational Programs Intern

Includes:
• Assisting teachers in classes, summer camps, and afterschool programming
• Developing educational demonstrations and activities for 2nd Sunday events
• Organizing classrooms
• Assisting with administrative projects
• Attending events and committee meetings
• Supporting the planning and implementing of a variety of educational programs
• Leading group tours of the facility, and assisting with field trips
• Promoting educational activities and programs in the community at events, schools, and conferences
• Assistance in documenting and evaluating programs

Job Requirements: Description: The GoggleWorks Program Intern will work closely with both the Outreach Coordinator and the Program Director to implement smoothly running educational programs. Program interns will have the unique opportunity to gain real world experience working with teaching artists in the classroom, as well as hands on experience in the daily administration of educational activities. Program interns will also have the opportunity to develop and lead educational activities to present to groups of all ages.

Job Description: Knowledge/Experience Requirements: Excellent organizational, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Interest in the arts,education,and community outreach. Program interns are required to have copies of criminal and child abuse clearances on file at the GoggleWorks.

Position: Marketing Intern

The GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is seeking an intern to support our efforts to increase membership, class enrollment, exhibition attendance and more!

Job Requirements: Requirements
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Facility with MS Office Applications
• Facility with web and internet communications
• College junior or senior or graduate student
• Willingness to help with a variety of programs and tasks

Job Description: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with market research to identify potential constituents
• Assisting with the production and distribution of marketing materials
• Preparing reports on the impact of marketing efforts
• Providing general support to the Marketing department
• Other duties as assigned

Term
Internships run throughout the summer. A three-month commitment of a minimum of 20 hours per week is required. Hours flexible between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Position: Graphic Design Intern

Enrich your resume, build a portfolio and gain experience in the design field with a pro bono internship at the GoggleWorks! Join the Design Department in hands on creation of print and web materials for public distribution.

Job Requirements: Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite programs and a willingness to learn are required. Web-based programs such as Dreamweaver or coding knowledge of HTML and PHP are helpful.

Job Description: Projects vary each day and include postcards, brochures, signs, catalogs, invitations and the GoggleWorks website maintenance.
